I am going to create a new region in SimCity 2013, on Titan Gorge.
But, I can't think of a suitable name for the region.
If you have a suggestion, leave it in the comments section below.

A few weeks ago I created Template:Factorybox to mimic the in-game interface for SimCity BuildIt. I spent more time on it than most templates I've made in the past, but I think the end result is pretty satisfying. What I enjoy the most about using templates that look like images is that it's visually more appealing (and familiar if it looks like game interface), the text is searchable, and it's really easy to auto-generate categories based on input. The latter can be very helpful in wiki organization, though I didn't feel it was necessary on the Factorybox template.
So this is just a walkthrough, maybe some tips I've learned over the past few months working with wiki templates, etc. I'm not a programmer, I have a pretty basic understanding …Read more >
Some of you may have noticed that items no longer stack to x10 in the Trade Depot, or that the Advertise time has increased from 3hrs to 12hrs, and the time to re-advertise has been decreased to 3mins. Interestingly, I couldn't find information about this change on any official EA/SimCity BuildIt channels, but I did find this mini-update posted on Reddit/SCBuildIt.
"The largest bundle of items that can fit in one Trade Depot slot has been reduced, as players have been frustrated when only needing a few of certain items; they’ve accidentally spent more Simoleons on a bigger bundle than they intended to; or the purchase has failed if they didn’t have enough space in their City Storage.Read more >

Today might be a sad day... a really sad one; or not at all, depending on who you are.
Moving on, EA has announced it is shutting down Maxis Emeryville, also known as the developers of the SimCity series, The Sims series, and Spore.
It's worth noting that only the main studio at Emeryville has been shut down; other studios, such as Maxis Redwood, which handles The Sims series, are mostly unaffected by this change.
The full statement from EA reads:
Today we are consolidating Maxis IP development to our studios in Redwood Shores, Salt Lake City, Helsinki and Melbourne locations as we close our Emeryville location. Maxis continues to support and develop new experiences for current Sims and SimCity players, while expanding our franchises to new platforms…Read more >
If you don't know yet, SimCity 2000: Special Edition (released in 1995) is currently free on Origin as part of the "On the House" deal! Be sure to grab it here.
That being said, it's currently unknown how long this will last, so make sure to get it as soon as possible. It's also worth noting that this is the emulated DOS version running on DOSBox, and not the Windows version.

I've joined this wiki in August of last year because I liked the SimCity franchise for a long time now, but wasn't very active due to the large community that was around back then. Now, a year later, it seems that most, if not all, people left. I do see the occasional edits from EpicJoyBoy, but aside from that, it seems that no one else is around. I would like to know, is this wiki dead? If it isn't, then it's doing a pretty bad job at being alive. And that's saying a lot.Read more >
Right now, this wiki is currently in an old, decrepit shape. While this wiki is maintained- somewhat because the admins aren't very active at the moment, with only Elassint doing maintenance work.
That aside, I think we should try and get a new look for our wiki, ideally both our wordmark and wiki background. Our wordmark looks unprofessional- using an outdated SimCity 3000 logo as well as being a compressed .jpg! We already have one of the designs created by the Wikia Design Team , but unfortunately it was turned down by Sgt Frogman as he preferred our current one.
We should change our wordmark into a more professional-looking one, preferably based on SimCity (2013) as well as being a transparent .png, or we can try to improve our existing …

SimCity (2013), despite receiving plenty of positive reception prior to launch, has undergone widespread technical problems since it's launch. Most players who picked the game up have dealt with network outages, problems saving progress, and difficulty connecting to the game's servers. The internet has been abuzz with Electronic Arts' attempts to patch these issues through, and the launch of the game has opened up several discussions about the future of gaming.
Reviews for the new SimCity were approached in a variety of different ways. Some publications decided to give their full review before the game saw it's formal release. This approach is fairly common, but other reviews saw fault with this system. By playing the game early, the revie…

SimCity (2013) is barely out the door, but we've cobbled together a few pointers to help players hit the ground running. This is especially useful for those that might be new to the franchise, but hopefully a little will be useful to those more experienced as well.
- Start with Low Density Dirt Roads. These are the cheapest and smallest of the roads. Given the tiny initial population of any city, it makes little sense to plop down anything much more expensive.
- Once the city's population rises, there will be a higher residential demand. To conserve some space, mayors can then upgrade their existing roads, which in turn will passively upgrade the sim homes to things like apartments.
- For roads to power plants and other out-of-the-way faciliti…

SimCity 2013 sports a brand new simulation engine called GlassBox, which takes a different approach to simulation when compared to other games. Previous games would simulate high-level statistics and then created graophic animations to represent the data. This time around, the GlassBox engine replaces those statistics wi…
